BALLET is a classical form of dance which integrates technique, strength and grace. These skills are honed through exercises performed at the barre and center floor work.  The word ballet can be defined as an artistic composition using this dance technique and performed to music.  It began in Western Europe, where the steps were named and codified in France, 1300-1600.  French is the universal language of ballet.


TAP   emphasizes percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor more than upper body work. Some descriptive step names are brush, flap, shuffle, ball change, and cramp roll.The tap sound is made by metal plates nailed to leather soles of shoes. Tap is a merger of African dance movements, English clog dance and Irish solo step dance. Some examples of famous tap dancers past and present are:  Fred Astaire, Nicholas Brothers, Gregory Hines and Savion Glover.
 


HIP-HOP is a cultural movement that began in the late 60's which includes the elements of dj, dance, graffiti art, mc, and knowledge. The dance element started with breaking on the east coast, and popping & locking on the west coast. Since then, hip hop dance has gained huge popularity, with many different styles being created and fused with the old school foundations. Footprints focuses on teaching the positive aspects of hip hop culture, and features the diversity of several different teachers’ styles, so that students can incorporate many different “looks” into their own movement vocabulary.


Jazz.  Jazz dance draws on elements of ballet, modern dance and tap dance. It emphasizes body line and flexible torso; fast, accurate footwork with the feet basically parallel and exaggerated movements of individual body parts, such as the shoulders. In general, it concentrated on floor-oriented steps as opposed to high lifts or leaps.  It’s influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music.

 
Acrobatics combines flexibility, physical strengthand body awareness. Children learn basic rolls, cartwheels, handstands and other tumbling fundamentals in a safe environment. Floor and tumbling exercises foster self-confidence, team building and general athleticism.

PRE-DANCE encourages the development of motor and listening skills and creativity in young children two – five years old.  Children are taught to connect dance movement with music through a series of interactive activities and floor work. They are able to grasp and retain fundamental steps and terms at an early age in a fun and lively environment. Pre-Dance prepares young children to take the next step toward more structured dance instruction.

 ZUMBA fuses hypnotic musical rhythms with tantalizing moves.  The routines feature interval training sessions where fast slow rhythms and resistance training combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Join the party!

ARGENTINE TANGO is a social dance and a musical genre that originated in Argentina and moved to Uruguay and to the rest of the world later on. In the US, it is commonly confused with ballroom tango, though this is a later derivation.  The Argentine Tangorelies heavily on improvisation. One of the only constants across all Argentine tango styles, is that the follower will usually be led to alternate feet. Another is that the follower rarely has her weight on both feet at the same time. Argentine tango is a new orientation of couple dancing.
